Terms and Conditions
Last updated: 24 October 2026
These terms set out the agreement between you and Wight Drainage Ltd when you use our services. By asking us to carry out work you accept them. They do not affect your statutory rights as a consumer.
1. About us
Wight Drainage Ltd is a family drainage business based in Cowes, serving homes and businesses across the whole Isle of Wight. We are fully insured and we provide the services described on this website, including emergency unblocking, high-pressure jetting, CCTV surveys, no-dig repairs, drain installations and planned maintenance packages.
2. Quotes and pricing
Quotes are free and carry no obligation. A quote is valid for 30 days unless we tell you otherwise. We do not charge a call-out fee, and on blocked drains we operate a No Fix, No Fee policy, which means that if we cannot clear the blockage you do not pay for that visit. The price we quote covers the work described. If we find a further problem once work has started, we explain it, show you what we have found and agree any extra cost with you before we carry out that additional work.
3. Your responsibilities
To keep the work safe and efficient we ask that you:
- Provide clear and safe access to the affected drains, manholes, gullies and pipes.
- Keep children and pets away from the work area while we are working.
- Tell us about any hazards you are aware of, such as deep chambers, unstable ground, hazardous waste or buried services.
- Confirm that you own the property or have the owner's permission for the work to be carried out.
- Make sure someone is available if we need access to the inside of the property.
4. Scheduling and access
We aim to arrive within the time window agreed with you and we will tell you as soon as possible if we are delayed. If we attend and cannot gain access, or the site is unsafe to work on, we may need to charge a reasonable attendance and travel cost, which we will always discuss with you first. A further visit caused by lack of access may be charged as a new job.
5. Payment
Payment is due on completion of the work unless we have agreed other terms with you in writing. We will confirm the available payment methods when we quote. For commercial customers and maintenance agreements, invoices are payable within 30 days of the invoice date. We will always tell you the cost before we start work, other than additional work that you have agreed to.
6. Carrying out the work
We carry out work in a professional and workmanlike manner using suitable materials and equipment. We aim to leave the work area clean, hosed down and tidy once the job is finished. Where a repair cannot be completed without excavation or ground works, we will explain the options and the likely cost before anything is dug. No-dig repair and pipe relining are usually possible where the condition of the pipe allows, subject to inspection.
7. Guarantees
We explain the guarantee that applies to your work when we quote, and we are always on hand for advice after our visit. A guarantee does not cover damage that happens later through ground movement, new root ingress, misuse, lack of maintenance or work carried out by someone else.
8. Commercial and maintenance packages
Maintenance agreements are provided for the period and the scope we agree with you. You need to confirm access arrangements and any site conditions that apply to planned works. Prices may be reviewed at renewal and we will give you notice before any change takes effect.
9. Damage, insurance and complaints
We are fully insured. If our work causes damage, we will tell you promptly and deal with it through our insurance. Please let us know about any concern as soon as you can, and within seven days where practical, so that we can look at it while the job is still fresh in mind. We will investigate your complaint and respond within five working days, and we will always try to put things right fairly.
10. Cancellations
Please tell us as early as you can if you need to cancel. If we travel to you and the work is then cancelled without notice, a reasonable attendance and travel charge may apply.
11. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. Subject to that, where we fail to meet our obligations our liability is limited to the cost of repeating the work or the price you have paid, at our choice. We are not liable for indirect losses such as lost income, lost profits or business interruption. You are responsible for damage caused by failure to provide safe access or to tell us about a known hazard.
12. Delays outside our control
We are not responsible for delays caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control, such as severe weather, flooding, restricted access, supplier failure or industrial action. In those situations we will keep you informed and reschedule as soon as it is practical.
13. Website content and photographs
The text, photographs and other content on this website belong to us or are used with permission. You may not copy or reuse them without our consent. Photographs and videos we take of completed work remain ours, and we will not publish an image that identifies you or your property without your permission.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any dispute will be dealt with by the courts of England and Wales.
